Memory Loss

Memory Loss is unusual forgetfulness. You may not be able to remember recent events or forget several moments from your past. Memory Loss can be short term or depending on the cause, it can be long-lasting and can worsen over time. Memory Loss is a problem that affects a lot of people. There are many different causes of Memory Loss. Some of the most common are:

  • Medications
  • Alcohol, Tobacco, or Drug use
  • Depression
  • Stress
  • Head injury
  • Stroke
  • Dementia

For most people occasional lapses in memory are a normal part of aging, but sometimes forgetfulness can be a sign of a mental deterioration or the onset of dementia.

It’s time to consult Centennial Neurology when memory lapses become frequent enough to concern a family member. Even if you are not displaying all the symptoms of dementia, it is good to visit your Neurologist as soon as possible as we can evaluate your symptoms and start treatment early.
